Una assemblea és un grup format per membres d'una organització que es reuneixen periòdicament per prendre decisions sobre un àmbit o àrea específica de la mateixa.
Les assemblees realitzen trobades, algunes són privades i altres són obertes. Si són obertes s’hi pot participar (per exemple: assistint si l'aforament ho permet, afegint punts a l'ordre del dia, o comentant les propostes i decisions preses per aquest òrgan).
Exemples: Una assemblea general (que es reuneix un cop l'any per definir les línies principals d'acció de l'organització així com als seus òrgans executius per votació), una consell assessor d'igualtat (que es reuneix cada dos mesos per fer propostes de com millorar les relacions de gènere en l'organització), una comissió d'avaluació (que es reuneix cada mes per fer el seguiment d'un procés) o una òrgan de garanties (que recull les incidències, abusos o propostes de millora dels procediments de presa de decisions) són tot exemples d'assemblees.

Quant a aquesta assemblea
This umbrella assembly is home to all of the activism and advocacy assemblies in the Party.
The Activism Society (more fully known as the Constructive Activism Society) is the umbrella assembly for all of the Party's advocacy and activist assemblies. These assemblies are typically either community-focused liberational assemblies, such as the Trans Liberation Assembly, or they are single-issue assemblies focused on specific activism, such as Action Apartheid (an internationalist solidarity assembly focused on supporting the liberation of Palestine).
The Constructive Activism Society is also the umbrella assembly for the Party's ally assemblies. You can read about ally assemblies here.
Propòsit de l'acció
This assembly's purpose is to pool the resources and decisionmaking capacity of all of the activist and advocacy assemblies, should that have value. Wherever there is substantial crossover between different groups, a special version of this assembly is convened to enable intersectional decisionmaking.
In a sense, then, this is the Party's intersectional consensus engine, as well as a labour engine in the form of the ally assemblies.
