What is Harmony Party UK?

Harmony Party UK is a number of things in one: a mutual aid federation, an array of political assemblies, and an activist network. We are also overtly communist.

We do all of these things by way of the same method for making decisions (consensus), and through a system where all parts of a thing resemble the whole of the thing.

This means that many assemblies can, individually, generate consensus for all of the Party - because they speak for a specific community, or they represent the whole of the Party on a specific issue or goal.

So it is that all assemblies have secretaries, and the Party has general secretaries. All assemblies work by consensus, and the Party, as a whole, runs by consensus.

We call this fractal democracy. It enables us to generate decisions at varying scales with the same degree of inclusion, because we believe that nothing about you should be decided without you (if you want a say).

It is highly scaleable because the system values signal over noise.

For example, when considering disability policy, there is very little need to include every person in the Party who does not identify as disabled. By reducing the people involved to just the Disability Activism Society, composed only of disabled people, we ensure signal because there is significantly reduced opportunity for anyone who lacks experience of disability to speak over anyone who has it.

This approach has obvious strengths for all marginalised communities.

There are multiple types of assemblies. You can read about those in these help pages.
